Planning a van conversion layout.

The questions…

We have ummed and ahhhhed over the layout of the therapy van.  We knew we needed the following:

• Comfy seating
• Table/ workspace
• Kitchen with cooker, hob, sink, fridge and workspace
• Storage for therapy resources

But how do we lay it out!? There were so many questions:

• Do we have U, L or gallery style seating?
• Does the seating or kitchen go at the front of the vehicle or at the back!?
• Gallery kitchen, L shape kitchen?
• What storage, drawers and cupboards do we need.
• And where on Earth do we store the gas bottles, heater, batteries!?

The inspiration…

Last year we went to the Caravan and Camping Show in Birmingham so that we could look at the various layouts of vehicles and what would work well for a therapy room, rather than it being a holiday home.

I also have a very extensive Pinterest board of many ideas, musings and ludicrous layouts!  It’s an addictive website but hugely inspiring.  I also follow a lot of van conversion accounts and hashtags on Instagram, and WOW some of them are spectacular.   Check out #Vanlife #Vanconversion #vandiaries.

As we get closer to the shell of the van being prepared our thoughts turned to finalising the design of the van so that the electrics, batteries and heaters can be pre-planned.

The next steps…

So we now have a rough plan to work to!  We can plan where the electric and plugs etc need to go. HOWEVER we are at a little bit of a stand still until we raise a few more funds and have sourced donations of materials and equipment.  We need to have the project completed by the end of March and the deadline is looming ever closer
